If you are a producer placing more than one tonne of portable batteries on the UK market you must register with an approved battery compliance scheme:
If you are a producer placing one tonne or less of portable batteries on the UK market you must register with the Environment Agency within 28 days of placing portable batteries on the UK market or within 28 days of forming the intention to do so, and provide an annual declaration of your portable battery sales by 31st January of the year following. The Environment Agency small producer registration website can be found by clicking here.
If you are an industrial or automotive battery producer, you do not need to join a compliance scheme to meet your obligations. However, if you have a portable battery obligation and join a compliance scheme you can report your industrial and automotive battery sales and waste battery collections through your compliance scheme.
eBatt is an approved battery compliance scheme, please please click here for more information.
